Generating Buzz

Generating Buzz

The most hated creatures on earth are insects, but they make excellent video game characters. I intended to include all types of insects on this list, but the number of bees, wasps, and hornets here is likely to create a buzz. That's just how things worked out. Characters who simply dress up as insects will not be considered, regardless of how detailed or accurate their outfits are. Furthermore, I decided not to include mosquitoes on this list because they are assholes and everyone knows that.

1-Q-Bee

Darkstalkers Series

Q-Bee (also known as Queen Bee) is the leader of the Soul Bees. Demonic species feed on anything and everything, but they seem especially fond of human souls. Q-Bee's appearance is designed to deceive others in nearly every way. For example, the two large ornaments on her head are her real eyes, and the small ones on her face are merely decoys. Her entire face is actually a giant mouth that occasionally opens up during her attacks. She has an artificial body, which is merely a shell for a smaller, regular-sized bee living inside. Q-Bee is one of the best fighters in the Darkstalkers series. To attack her enemies, she can release swarms of smaller bees, and she can produce large amounts of sticky honey to immobilize her prey.

2-Wiggler

Mario Series

Mario's enemies can usually be defeated by jumping on them, but this only enrages Wigglers. If they are jumped on, they become red with anger and will aggressively chase the responsible parties. I don't know why you would want to pick a fight with Wiggler in the first place. Their tiny boots and flowers on their heads are adorable. Wigglers are typically enemies, but they have also made appearances as playable characters in some games. Another notable plot twist in the history of video games involved Wiggler. Mario clearly refers to Wiggler as his uncle after being defeated in Super Mario 64. In the case that Mario doesn't have any other siblings that we aren't aware of, this would mean that Wiggler is Luigi's son.

3-Mindy

Final Fantasy Series

One of the Magus Sisters, Mindy is the youngest. Final Fantasy IV introduced the trio of characters, who have since become recurring characters in the series. Known for their devastating "delta attacks," the sisters are known for fighting together, but each has their own special skills. Mindy resembles a wasp, but her sisters Cindy and Sandy are like lady bugs. Cindy is like a ladybug, while Sandy is like a praying mantis and Sandy is like a praying mantis. When the sisters attack, she is usually the primary target due to her high level magic (including the powerful Flare and Ultima spells). She can hit enemies 15 times in a single turn with her Passado maneuver, one of the most lethal moves in the series! Mindy looks relatively harmless, and she is cuter than either of her sisters, but you can't judge a book by its cover.

4-Princess What’s-Her-Name

Earthworm Jim Series

Princess What's-Her-Name caused quite a stir when she was born in the catacombs beneath the planet Insectica. She was considered ugly by Insectican standards because of her cute smile and adorable personality. She was quickly hidden away in disgrace without even being given a proper name. Having been locked up for many years, the princess escaped and staged a rebellion against her tyrannical twin sister, Queen Slug-for-a-Butt. There is a possibility that Princess What's-Her-Name is overrated on this list. Her insect abilities don't appear to be used much, since she spends most of her time as a damsel in distress. Although she spent most of her life being called "the ugly one," I admire her optimism.

5-Yar

Yars’ Revenge

Yars' Revenge is notable for being the best-selling game designed specifically for the Atari 2600. There have been many sequels and remakes of this game, but none have captured the imagination of gamers like the original. A mutated insect race called Yar seeks revenge against an alien overlord who destroyed their home planet. 1982 was a year when video games were very light on storyline, and the concept of mutated houseflies in space was apparently too important to confine to one medium. An album featuring a theme song and a dramatic reading of Yars' Revenge was also released with Yars' Revenge, along with a comic book explaining the plot. As a hidden Easter egg in Atari's E.T. in 1983, a Yar appeared, but they probably want us to forget that.

6-Charmy Bee

Sonic the Hedgehog Series

In 1994, Charmy Bee made his first appearance in Knuckles' Chaotix on the ill-fated 32X. The last time he was seen was in Sonic Heroes in 2003, and he was received with just as much enthusiasm as you might expect. Chamry, Sonic the Hedgehog's youngest male character, is six years old. Despite his inexperience, Charmy is able to contribute a lot to his team with his flying skills and sting attack. Sonic's trademark spin dash can even be mimicked by him. Charmy is hyperactive, immature, and annoying, like most members of Sonic's Shitty Friends club. As long as he's still a kid, I'll give him some slack. Besides, it seems odd to be insulting someone on a list that honors them.

7-Hornet Man

Mega Man Series

As with many Robot Masters in the Mega Man series, Hornet Man was not originally intended to be used in a plot to take over the world. The Hornet Man was actually created to manage a flower park and pollinate flowers. As Dr. Wily's pawn, he was reprogrammed as soon as he was decommissioned. His chest is filled with a honeycomb that releases swarms of robotic hornets. However, his ability to fly makes him difficult to hit. When Mega Man defeats Hornet Man, he receives the Hornet Chaser, which fires robotic hornet drones to sting enemies or retrieve items. Blast Hornet from Mega Man X3 was also considered for this list, but I ultimately favored Hornet Man's old school appearance.

8-D’Vorah

Mortal Kombat Series

D'Vorah is one of the most brutal fighters in Mortal Kombat, and she's relatively new to the franchise. In addition to having extra limbs and pincers, she is one of the few Mortal Kombat characters who can fly. Her stinger can attack her opponents or surprise them with powerful resin streams, but D'Vorah is perhaps best known for her ability to control large bugs and winged insects. The humanoid body of D'Vorah, a member of the Kytinn species, acts as a shelter for colonial insects. Insects are used for a variety of purposes and are directly involved in a number of gruesome fatality maneuvers. Injecting themselves into an opponent can cause them to bore holes in their foreheads, melt flesh off their faces, and erupt from their chests.

9-Buck Bumble

Buck Bumble

During a chemical spill outside of London, a bumblebee named Buck Bumble selflessly volunteers to be implanted with cyborg technology and rises up against the evil herd. Buck now has the ability to use nearly a dozen weapons, including stun guns, lasers, and guided missile launchers. Buck Bumble's vision of the future might be frightening, but it looks like we're protected since the game is set in the year 2010. The game's opening theme song was the stuff of legend, even though many would overlook Buck Bumble in favor of other similar games on the Nintendo 64. As one of the most memorable themes in gaming history, it ranks alongside the infamous DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64.

10-Beedrill

Pokémon Series

Beedrills are highly volatile Pokémon that fly quickly and attack with stingers on their legs and tail. Their opponents are often repeatedly jabbed at by them, and sometimes they appear in swarms. A wild beedrill is known for bringing incapacitated victims back to its nest for food. It might sound vicious, but I think it's no worse than being trapped in a Pokéball and forced to fight for fun. Despite their territorial nature, Beedrills will attack if they feel aggrieved. The birds nest in forests and misty wooded areas, but you should always keep your distance from them. Beedrill is sometimes referred to as the poison bee Pokémon, but in fact it resembles Asian giant hornets much more closely. Mega Beedrill is one of the most heinous Pokémon, and it looks even uglier when it evolves into a Beedrill.
