Our diversity strengthens us and our shared values unite us as a global company operating in around 50 countries. Delivery Hero operates on a foundation of caring, so much so that our core value is "we are Heroes because we care."
We want to highlight local programs across the company, as part of our Local Heroes Stories. As the global pandemic continues, our teams across the globe are launching initiatives to strengthen and support their community in these difficult times.
On this edition we examine talabat's recent vaccination campaign in Egypt, Baemin's support of local businesses in South Korea, and foodpanda's mental health initiative in Singapore.
Increasing vaccination rates
Talabat Egypt has recently launched a campaign to promote vaccination against Covid-19. Currently, only 22,3 % of the country's 102.3 million people are fully vaccinated.
In November and December of 2021, Talabat Egypt launched a digital awareness campaign with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to increase these numbers. TALABAT and UNICEF collaborated on a campaign that would be distributed via TALABAT's online channels along with educational materials provided by UNICEF. People were encouraged to get vaccinated and hygiene guidelines were emphasized. The campaign is part of Talabat Egypt's broader Corporate Responsibility efforts.
Supporting local businesses
Baemin, also known as Baedal Minjok, runs a yearly academy called the Baemin Academy. The Academy was founded in 2014 with a goal of educating and helping restaurateurs build better business strategies that would have a positive impact on food offerings and delivery methods.
From barista classes to marketing seminars to seminars on food regulations and hygiene, the Academy offers it all. You can even take classes to learn how to run a greener restaurant!
As of today, 107,375 students have attended 835 classes at the Academy. It shows no signs of slowing down, and Baemin is doing its part to help the local restaurant industry flourish in these challenging times, and adapt to new challenges.
Accessibility to mental health services
Foodpanda made Intellect's Mental Health Support app available to all employees across all 12 markets in October 2021. In addition to guided meditations, wellness workshops, and training opportunities for staff, the app offers one-on-one online consultations with licensed counselors and behavioral coaches.
Due to the ongoing pandemic and limited social contact, the need for mental health services and guidance is steadily rising. Foodpanda has implemented a mental health app designed by Singapore-based start-up Intellect following a three-month trial run in the company's Singapore office. According to a survey of foodpanda employees, 98% asked for the app as part of the company's mental health benefits. As the demand for Covid-safe mental health services continues to grow, Intellect launched their app in April 2021.
