Activision is rumored to be considering remastering other Call of Duty games.

Activision is reportedly considering remastering some earlier Call of Duty games to release in between new entries in the series, according to a leak.

Activision's first Call of Duty remaster was launched in 2019 to moderate success and critical acclaim. Now it appears that the firm may also be considering remastering certain previous Call of Duty titles in the future.

Activision is expected to focus on its next remastered game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, before embarking on any further remastering projects. A leaker disclosed some data about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer gameplay last month. The leaker claims that maps like Oil Rig, Khandor Hideout, and Sawmill would likely return, as well as famous killstreaks like the UAV, sentry, chopper gunner, and a new killstreak called "Soundwave."

Now, a credible leaker known as RalphsValve claims that Activision is discussing remastering several additional earlier Call of Duty games. According to the leaker, these remasters will fill in the gaps between Call of Duty entries, despite another rumor circulating that a mainline Call of Duty game will not be released until 2023.

The leaker claims that Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty 1 and 2 will be remastered, with backwards compatibility added to the remastered version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The leaker also mentioned the likelihood of a Nintendo Switch release for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remastered. Because it will be the first Call of Duty game to be released on the system, it will be intriguing to see. Last month, Microsoft's President Brad Smith stated that the business is interested in bringing the Call of Duty brand to the Nintendo Switch, indicating that the leaker's allegations may be true, but no time frame has been specified.

Activision has stated that speculations of a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 remake are unfounded. Given that the business has previously restored the first Modern Warfare game and the second is in development, many consumers would assume that a Modern Warfare 3 remaster would be a foregone conclusion. This could be due to Modern Warfare 3's lack of success and adulation compared to other installments in the franchise.
