• Control over backup files: Rather of backing up the entire site, consider plugins that allow you to choose what you want to backup.
  
• Incremental backups: This capability only backs up "new files," or files that have been added since the previous backup.
  
• Control over backup settings: With your plugin, you should be able to specify the time, maximum backup copies, and other options.
  
• Real-time backups are only necessary for sites that cannot afford to lose a single second of data, such as an e-commerce site. Each and every order must be backed up.

By far the greatest of these BackupBuddy alternatives is UpdraftPlus. It performs everything BackupBuddy does, plus a whole lot more!

To begin, UpdraftPlus can save your backup to Google Drive/Dropbox/MS Azure, OneDrive, Google Cloud, and a variety of other third-party servers. BackupBuddy does not have as many third-party storage alternatives as BackupBuddy.

Then, unlike BackupBuddy, UpdraftPlus allows you to restore backups automatically.

UpdraftPlus creates an automatic backup every time you update your WordPress site (themes/plugins/the full CMS). This is something BackupBuddy does not do.

It's also possible that you were already utilising BackupBuddy's competitors. UpdraftPlus allows you to recover backups produced with other plugins, while BackupBuddy does not.

It has a "staging area," which is one of the few BackupBuddy options. It comes with an extension called UpdraftClone. This allows you to double-check and double-verify your changes before deploying them to the live site!

UpdraftPlus is much more than just a backup programme. When switching hosts, you may also use the tool to clone your complete site and migrate it in a few clicks.

It's one of the few WordPress backup plugins that can back up files that aren't WordPress.

Maybe you're a step ahead of the rest of humanity in terms of technology? UpdraftPlus can be run from the command line (WP-CLI).

Do you want to share your WordPress site with other people? A password can be used to restrict access to the plugin!

UpdraftVault token is included in the premium plan. Off-site storage that is totally integrated with UpdraftPlus and allows you to keep your data ready to be utilised or restored on your site.

VaultPress was the previous name for Jetpack Backup. In terms of features, it isn't even close to UpdraftPlus or BackupBuddy (just being honest and transparent).

It is, however, owned by Automattic, the same company that created Jetpack, so there is a lot of built-in trust and experience.

As a result, it can be used to completely automate daily backups. It's worth noting, though, that you can't choose the exact time of these backups!

The retention time for the free plan is set to 30 days. Meaning, your backup is kept for 30 days, which is fine if you're just getting started and on a tight budget.

Incremental backups are supported.

While Jetpack Backup does not allow you to directly clone or migrate a site, you can use it to restore backups produced using the Jetpack plugin. Did I mention that using Jetpack Backup requires installing Jetpack? Although, because the most of you are likely to have it, this shouldn't be a big deal.

You must give the plugin SSH/FTP access in order for the backups to work. Sure, it's a little technical at first, but after that it's quite straightforward.

The VaultPress/Jetpack servers hold all of the backups. You won't be able to keep your backups on any other cloud services.

Security screenings are included with the more costly subscriptions! You will receive an e-mail if and when questionable files are discovered.

Along with the backup, its more expensive subscriptions include SEO tools, downtime monitoring, scheduled posts, payment gateway, and other features. The cheapest package costs around $3.46 per month.

3. WPupBack

BackWPup is a good WordPress backup plugin, both in terms of features and price. I suppose the company has been here for more than ten years, which is a fairly solid résumé, isn't it?

To begin with, it supports backups to third-party services like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, HiDrive, Amazon Glacier, SugarSync, and others. It also has the ability to back up to FTP servers!

Then there's the support for fully automated restores.

It does, however, allow you to select and schedule your own backup times! You can schedule backups for every hour, every day, every week, or every month.

It can back up individual files, databases, and, of course, the complete WordPress installation. Do you want to switch hosts? It also aids in the process of migration!

It even allows you to encrypt your backup archives if security is a concern. Incremental backups are available as an option.

When you're through with your settings, you can save them as an.XML file for later use.

The basic version is completely free for the rest of your life! That's a lot of (a lot of) features, and it lets you do practically everything the premium version does. The optional paid plan costs $69.00 for the first year and then $39.00 every year after that.

Although this is debatable, BlogVault claims to be "the most reliable WordPress backup plugin." However, it is still one of the better solutions accessible, and that is well-known.

It has a staging space, for starters. That is both highly valuable and incredibly unusual. You can preview your files and updates in action as a private preview that is not accessible to the public.

It even includes a "test restore" capability, which BackupBuddy doesn't have! You can use this to see if your backup files are in good shape!

The USP of Total Upkeep differs from that of the other BackupBuddy options on our list.

It makes an attempt to prevent your site from crashing in the first place! This means that in most circumstances, you may not even need to restore! It offers a site check feature that examines your site at predetermined intervals for risks.

It does allow for optional scheduled backups in terms of backups. FTP, Google Drive, and Amazon S3 are all options for integration.

It contains a function called "auto rollback." It automatically creates a backup before any big update. If something goes wrong with the upgrade, it will revert to the most recent functioning backup it made.

You don't have to backup everything because selective backups are possible! If you're utilising Cloud WordPress, you can also use the extremely rare staging capability.

Its restoration script allows you to restore your site even if it or WordPress as a whole is down! Single-file restorations are also feasible.

Total Upkeep makes cloning and transferring websites a breeze!

It has a free version that, unexpectedly, contains a lot of features. Only the remote storage solutions (Drive/FTP, etc.) require payment; all else is free.

Even the paid version is really affordable. It just only $2.50 per month!

BackupGuard is a plugin that handles practically all of your needs. This includes backing up your site, cloning it, and restoring it in a couple of minutes on a different domain/server.

Backups can be done automatically and on a regular basis. It's as simple as choosing when you want the backup to be created and that's it.

It also has possibilities for remote storage. Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, pCloud, Dropbox, and Amazon are all options. This is the closest remote storage support to UpdraftPlus that I've seen.

It's fairly light, and it doesn't consume a lot of RAM or resources. Your site is backed up in "chunks." This allows for a smoother backup than most linear backups now available.

It does provide you the option of specifying the number of backups you want on your server. This reduces the likelihood of a server overload.

Selective backups and restores are, of course, possible. Only the files you choose to backup or restore are backed up or restored.

Other standard features include e-mail notifications and alarms following successful backups. There is live-chat help, but it is not available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The most basic plan is always free. Paid options start at $25.00 (for two sites), but there are no renewals or subscriptions with these plans.

7.Duplicator

It essentially binds your entire website together and allows you to move it around. What's the best part? Duplicator includes the full WordPress core, so you don't need to have WordPress installed to utilise it.

It was only lately that it become totally "drag & drop." Simply dump your package once you've received it, and you'll have a new site in seconds!

It has a function called "recovery point." This allows you to return to a previous point if you make a mistake.

Duplicator, on the other hand, is designed for more fundamental needs, such as packing and relocating entire websites.
