In 2016, I began this blog with the sole intention of assisting people with IT-related issues. In 2018, I hit 10,000 monthly views and decided to add Google Adsense to this blog in order to cover the hosting costs and possibly earn some extra cash.
I switched to Ezoic at the end of 2018, which resulted in a significant rise in ad revenue. In this Ezoic Review, I'll explain how Ezoic has helped me and this website.
Every day, as a system administrator, I have to deal with a variety of issues. Other sysadmins' blogs are often a fantastic resource for more difficult problems, and they've come in handy for me on several occasions. On LazyAdmin.nl, I began sharing my own knowledge in 2016.
I didn't think about SEO or strategies to make money with this site at first. I merely intended to help others, but the number of visitors began to rapidly increase in 2018. Around May/June 2018, I hit 15.000 monthly visitors. I needed to increase my hosting package, so I switched to SiteGround, and I began to devote more time to blogging.
I added Google Adsense advertising to the website to help cover the hosting costs. And the first month, I made more than $50, which was fantastic, but not particularly substantial.
Earnings began to decline in the months that followed. I suspect I messed things up because I began by experimenting with different ad places, but even after returning everything to its original state, I never again reached the $50 per month mark.
I never generated more than $3.62 CPM in a month between June and October 2018. However, the number of tourists continued to rise at a rapid pace. I had 25.000 visitors and 32.000 page views in October 2018. So, compared to June of that year, I had doubled. My ad revenue, on the other hand, did not.
Ezoic approached me in October 2018 to see if I wanted to join their ad network. They guaranteed a 50-200 percent boost in advertising revenue. Well, that sounded too good to be true, but hey, I was just making $50 a month, so what could go wrong?
Joining Ezoic is free, and all I had to do to get started was fill in some placeholders. You may even A/B test Ezoic with your current ad network using the ad tester, such that just 30% of your visitors view Ezoic advertisements while the rest see ads from your current ad network.
So I switched to Ezoic in the latter week of October and was blown away by the results. I made more money in a week than I did in a month with Google Adsense.
As you can see, my EPMV (Earning Per Thousand Visitors) was significantly greater than the average.
Google's cost per thousand impressions. Remember that my greatest CPM was $3.62, and my average EPMV in my first week with Ezoic was $15. This is a 400% increase.
I still believe that my low Google Adsense revenue was due to my own mistake, but I could never reach the $15 CPM on my own.
My ad income continued to rise in the months that followed; in March of this year, the EPMV averaged $20 and peaked at $27. I made about $1300 in ad revenue alone last month (March 2019).
The dip in December and January in the chart below is natural because ad rates always drop at the start of the year.
With over $ 1000 a month in ad revenue, I began working one day fewer per week so that I could devote more time to writing and spending time with my children.
So you don't need to be invited to start using Ezoic. The only stipulation is that you receive 10,000 monthly visitors. A snapshot of Google Analytics is required for verification. To get started, go to Ezoic and sign up.
Ezoic's account manager is fantastic and will assist you with any queries or issues you may have during the implementation process.
This site is cached by Cloudflare, so it loads as quickly as possible. Cloudflare is also free, so be sure to have a look. If you're already using Cloudflare, integrating Ezoic is more simpler. You only need to modify the nameservers to get started because they work with Cloudflare.
My website experienced a problem last year. The SSL certificate was not renewed, and the site was taken down due to an invalid certificate. While I was speaking with SiteGround support, I received an email from my Ezoic account manager, who informed me that they had identified an issue with the site and asked if they could help.
So I had SiteGround and Ezoic collaborate on the problem, and everything was back online in 10 minutes. Ezoic had to be suspended for a few moments while the certificate was fixed. This is something that many businesses should learn from; at Ezoic, they truly care about their customers and assist them in any way they can.
Getting paid by a US company is always an issue for me because I live in the Netherlands. Outside of the United States, direct bank transfers are not possible, but Ezoic can pay to your Payoneer or PayPal account.
I chose Payoneer since the transaction fees are significantly lower. Payoneer, like PayPal, is completely free to join.
Ezoic was such a game-changer for me that I felt compelled to write a review. I could never earn as much money with Google Adsense as I do now with my blog, simply because I want to focus on writing and helping people, not on finding the best ad placement.
I can only propose trying it out yourself with Ezoic taking care of that and creating a significantly higher EPMV / CPM. You've seen the numbers; now you can try Ezoic risk-free (there's no contract, no monthly cost, or anything else), and you can cancel at any moment.
If you're reading this, I'm guessing you're thinking about Ezoic. So, what are you waiting for? Give it a shot, and the results will speak for themselves after a month.
