Want a quick and easy way to get feedback from friends, family, or a Discord community? Why don't you try making a poll? They not only save time, but they also help to avoid misunderstandings.
Polls on Discord can be used to gauge community members' interest in various topics by using votes and reactions. On Discord, you can make a poll using emoji reactions or a poll bot. Here's how to apply either technique.
Using Emoji reactions to get comments on specific themes is an easy method to start a poll on Discord. You might think of the emoji counts as votes cast by server members on various topics. The following is how it works:
Step 1: Launch Discord on your device.
Step 2: On the left of your Discord app, you’ll see a list of servers. Click on the server hosting the channel that you need to create the poll.
Step 3: You'll see the different channels available after the Discord server is opened. Select the channel where you wish to conduct the poll.
If you'd like a dedicated channel, click Add next to Text Channels and enter a name for it. After that, go ahead and click Create Channel.
Step 4: Click on the Gear icon by the right of the channel name.
Step 5: On the new window, click on Permissions.
Step 6: Go to Role/Members section beneath Advanced permissions and select @everyone.
Step 7: Scroll down the channel permissions until you arrive at Read Message History and click the green ‘√’ (checkmark).
Step 8: Scroll down then click on the red ‘x’ (cross mark) beside all the other options and click on Save Changes.
Step 9: Click on Save Changes in the bottom-right corner.
Step 10: Close the settings window to go back to the channel interface.
Step 11: Go to the channel’s text box and type in the poll question then press Enter.
Step 12: Hover your mouse pointer over the question then choose the emojis for the reactions you want. Remember that each emoji represents an answer.
Step 13: Explain your poll options in the channel. For example, you can say click on emoji 1 for Yes and emoji 2 for No.
Step 14: Invite members to react to your poll and watch the emoji count.
For polls where emojis aren't enough, you can utilise bots. However, many third-party bots are available. Users must provide bots access to their accounts in order for them to use their data. The bot must first be added to your server.
The steps for adding a poll bot to a server are as follows:
Step 1: Get the PollBot from the official site.
Step 2: Click on Invite this bot.
Sign in with your Discord account, if you haven’t already.
Step 3: Select the server from the drop-down and then click Continue. This action adds the Poll Bot to the server.
Step 4: Review all the permissions then click on Authorize.
Step 5: Launch Discord and select the server on which you need to run the poll in the left c0lumn.
Step 6: Go to the Text Channels list and choose one of the channels.
Step 7:In the message field, type pollhelp. The bot should respond with instructions on how to build various poll types, such as Normal polls, Fancy polls, and Numbered polls.
To activate the poll feature, different bots reply to different orders. Visit the developer's website to learn the command for your poll bot of choice.
The poll you make with Discord emojis is identical to the Normal Poll. A user asks a query, and the rest of the server replies with emojis. The following is how it works:
Step 1: Launch Discord and select the server on which you need to run the poll in the left pane of the app.
Step 2: Go to the Text Channels list and choose one of the channels here.
Step 3: Type the command poll: followed by your question in the message area. For instance, consider this poll: Do you enjoy Fortnite?
Your users can answer with emojis, and you can keep track of how many people have responded.
Making a Splendid Poll Using PollBot as a tool
A user types a question, which the PollBot flags as a banner and asks server users to answer with reactions. The following is how it works:
Step 1: Launch Discord and select the server from the left column.
Step 2: Go to the Text Channels list and choose one of the channels here.
Step 3: Type the command poll:: in the message field, followed by your question. For instance, consider this poll: Do you enjoy Fortnite?
You can choose any number of responses from 1 to 10 for the numbered poll.
Step 1: Launch Discord and select the server from the left column.
Step 2: Go to the Text Channels list and choose one of the channels.
Step 3: Type the amount of alternatives you want, poll:, and then your question in the message section. 9poll is an example: How many hues are there in the rainbow?
You may tally the number of responses once users have responded with reactions.
There are separate polling apps for iPhones and Androids if you need to make polls outside of Discord. Opinion Up, SurveyMonkey, and Pollie are other examples.
