GeForce Experience in-game overlay isn't working. This is a fix.

GeForce Experience overlay is a screen that pops up on your screen while you're playing a game. It gives you a lot of options, like screen recording, live streaming, screen capture, direct share, and more. A few people have recently said that they can't use the GeForce Experience overlay in their games because they can't see it. Don't worry if you are one of these people and you have the same problems as them. There are some simple and steady fixes out there that might help you solve the problem.

Fix 1 – Download and set up Visual Studio.

NVIDIA Some Visual Studio files need to be installed on the computer before you can play shadow play or add an in-game overlay.

STEP 1 – KNOW THE CPU ARCHITECHTURE

You can check which CPU architecture your system is using.

1. At first, press the Windows key+I keys together. This will open the Settings screen.

2. In the Settings page, tap on “System” on the left pane.

3. Now, on the right-hand pane, scroll all the down and tap “About“.

4. Now, you can notice the processor architecture from here. Just check whether it is “x64” or “ARM64” based.

STEP 2 – DOWNLOAD THE VISUAL STUDIO FILES

1. At first, visit the official site of the Visual Studio C++ Redistributable Package.

2. Now, go to the Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022 sections.

3. Then, tap on the application version according to your system specifications. (Whether your system is an x64-based one or an ARM64- based one).

In a few seconds, the download process will be complete.

Once it is downloaded, close the browser window.

4. Further, just double click on the “vcredist.exe“.

5. Once you see the ‘Do you want to run this file?’ prompt, tap on “Run“.

6. You have to accept the terms and conditions. Just check the “I agree to the license terms and conditions“.

7. To do that, tap on “Install” to start the installation process.

8. The installation process will be completed within half a minute.

9. Once it is done, tap “Restart” to restart the system.

Once the computer starts up, launch the game and test if this works or not.

Fix 2 – Enable the overlay

Check to see if the overlay feature has been turned on or not.

1. Type “GeForce Experience” on the search box.

2. Then, tap “GeForce Experience“.

3. When the NVIDIA GeForce Experience opens up, tap on the gear-shaped icon.

4. Then, click on the “GENERAL” area.

5. Scroll down through the right-hand pane and set the “IN-GAME OVERLAY” to “On“.

After that, close the GeForce Experience app and run the game. Then, try to use the overlay feature in the game. Make sure this works.

Fix 3 – Enable Experimental features

Enabling the experimental features should fix the issue.

1. Launch the GeForce Experience app.

2. There, just tap on the gear-shaped icon to access the Settings.

3. After that, head on to the “GENERAL” section.

4. Then, on the right-hand pane, head to the “ABOUT” section.

5. There, check the box that says "Enable experimental features." GeForce Experience may need to be updated.

The GeForce Experience app can check for, download, and install any updates that need to be done.

Then, see if this works.

Fix 4 – Turn off the NVFBC Capture in Steam

The NVFBC Capture on NVIDIA GPU of the steam client can interfere with the In-game Overlay feature itself.

1. Launch the Steam client.

2. In the Steam client, tap on the “Steam” option on the menu bar.

3. Later, tap “Settings” to access it.

4. In the Steam Settings panel, go to the “Remote Play” section.

5. Now, on the right-hand side, tap “ADVANCED HOST OPTIONS“.

6. In the Advanced Host Options panel, uncheck the “Use NVBFC capture on NVIDIA GPU” option.

7. Finally, tap “OK“.

Now, close the GeForce Experience app and test by playing a game and using the feature.

Fix 5 – Install the media feature pack

Some users have solved this issue just by installing the latest media feature pack on their computers.

1. Visit the Media Feature Pack for Windows N.

2. Then, tap on the “Download” icon.

3. After that, check the particular package according to the CPU specifications.

4. Next, tap “Download” to download the latest package on your system.

 5. Once you have downloaded it, double-tap the downloaded package.

 Now just follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

Fix 6 – Update the graphics card

Sometimes just a graphics card update can solve the issue.

1. Launch GeForce Experience.

2. After that, click on the “DRIVERS” section.

3. Let it look for the latest driver package for your system.

Just let it download the latest version of the driver.

4. Once it is done, click on “Express installation“.

This will express install the driver. You just have to wait.

Fix 7 – Uninstall GeForce Experience and reinstall it

You have to uninstall and reinstall GeForce Experience.

1. At first, press the Windows key+X keys together.

2. Then, tap “Apps and Features“.

3.You may see the list of installed apps.

4. Now, right-click on the “GeForce Experience” app and tap on “Uninstall“.

Now, just follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.

After that, close the Programs & Features window.

5. Then, go to the NVIDIA official website.

6. Once it opens up, tap on “Download” to download the latest version of the app.

Allow a little while to complete the downloading process.

7. After downloading the setup file, double click on the “Geforce_Experience” to run it.

Following the installation of the new GeForce Experience app, you may need to restart the computer.
