Have you misplaced your Samsung Smart TV remote? Use your phone as a remote control for your television. Now

Remote controls for televisions might go missing or cease working unexpectedly. If you find yourself in this circumstance and need to change the channels, you can use your Android or iPhone as a remote control for your Samsung smart TV.

Let's look at how to manage your Samsung smart TV with your phone as a remote.

App controls from your phone aren't available on all Samsung TVs. You can manage your Samsung TV without the original remote controller if it's a "smart TV" with streaming apps like Netflix. All you need is a smartphone with an app put on it for that. Let's have a look at how.

Step 1: Get SmartThings and install it.

You can connect and control any Samsung smart product, such as a TV, refrigerator, air conditioner, and more, using the SmartThings app. You can operate your TV via the SmartThings app as long as your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Both iOS and Android devices can use the SmartThings app. The app is available for download through Samsung's official website. You can also utilise the links provided below.

Step 2: Go to your Samsung Account and sign in.

You'll need a Samsung account to utilise the SmartThings app. If you don't already have an account, you may create one for free by going to this direct link in any browser. Your phone number or email address can be used to create an account.

Step 3:Add Your Smart TV as a Device

Switch on your Samsung Smart TV and open the SmartThings app on your phone once you've finished creating your Samsung account. Then, on the Home screen, tap the Sign-in button.

You will be taken to the Samsung website after tapping the Sign-in button. Sign in by entering your email address or phone number.

Tap the Add Devices icon on the app's Home screen.

A list of different types of smart devices will appear on the new screen. Because we wish to connect the app to a Smart TV, tap the TV icon.

The software will automatically look for a nearby Samsung TV after you press the TV icon. After a few seconds, your phone will display a pop-up similar to the one below.

Now press the Add button. Then you'll see another pop-up that asks for access to your location data.

Go to Settings > SmartThings and select While Using for Location to grant location access.

On the next screen, tap the Start button after granting location access.

If you want to give the SmartThings app microphone access to find nearby Samsung devices, select OK on the following screen. If you don't want to allow it, tap Don't Allow.

If you followed the steps correctly, your TV should appear in the app. Go ahead and choose your television.

You must now input the PIN to pair your Samsung TV and phone (one-time step). Look at the PIN on your television and type those numbers into the box given.

That is all there is to it. A success message will appear on your Samsung TV after it has been successfully connected to the SmartThings app. If you want to modify the name of your device, you can do so now.

Step 4: Use your phone to control your TV

So far, we've done all of the steps required to use the SmartThings app to connect your TV to your phone. Let's look at how you may manage your TV from your phone now.

Make sure your TV is turned on and open the SmartThings app on your phone. At the bottom of the screen, tap Devices.

Your TV name will appear on the next screen. Go ahead and press the button.

There are several categories here, including Remote, Sources & Apps, Ambient Mode, and Universal Guide. Toggle the remote control.

You'll be redirected to a new screen that looks like your Samsung TV remote after tapping the Remote. Volume controls, navigational arrows, a home button, and other features can be found here. You may turn off your TV from your phone by pressing the power button.

When you press on Sources & Apps, you'll see a list of all the apps that have been installed on your TV as well as the sources that you can connect to it. If you want to watch YouTube, for example, simply tap the matching icon on your TV to access the app.

Universal Guide will assist you in swiftly launching free movie titles or TV series, whereas Ambient mode will assist you in viewing gorgeous sights and weather on your TV when it is not in use.

SmartThings, on the other hand, is a really cool app that allows you to control your Samsung Smart TV from anywhere in the home using your phone. Similarly, you may use the app to restrict your children's screen time by turning off the TV while they are watching.
