How to Block Website Access in Windows 11 / 10 Using the Firewall

Many websites on the internet attempt to attack your system, and you may lose your data as a result. Also, if you don't want other users on your system to be able to visit particular websites, you can use Windows Firewall to prevent these websites or IP addresses from being accessed on your system. How to Use Windows 11's Firewall to Block Website Access

Step 1: Open your browser and go to any IP finding website, such as IPVOID.

Step 2: A new tab will pop up.

Step 3: Now type in the URL of the website you wish to prevent your computer from viewing.

Step 4: Then, as indicated below, click the Find Website IP button.


Step 5: Select the website's IP addresses and copy and paste them into a notepad or any other editor tool for future reference.


Step 6: After noting the IP addresses, close the IPVOID tab in your browser.

Step 7: Press the Windows + R buttons on your keyboard to launch the Run dialogue box.

Step 8: In the run box, type firewall.cpl and click Enter to open the Windows Firewall panel.


Step 9: In the Windows Firewall window, on the left side, click Advanced settings, as shown below.


Step 10: Right-click on Outbound Rules in Windows Defender Firewall and select New Rule from the context menu, as shown below.


Step 11: To continue, select the Custom radio button and click Next as shown below.


Step 12: In the following window, make sure the radio button for All programmes is selected and then click Next to continue.


Step 13: In the Protocol and Ports window, leave everything alone and click Next to proceed.


Step 14: As shown below, select the radio option for These IP addresses under Which remote IP addresses does this rule apply to.

Step 15: After that, click the Add option to add an IP address.


Step 16: In the IP address small window, click the This IP address or subnet radio button, then type the IP address in the textbox area directly below it, as seen in the figure below.

Step 17: When you're finished, click the OK button.


Step 18: If there are many IP addresses to input, repeat the Add IP address process.

Step 19: To continue, click Next after you've input all of the IP addresses.


Step 20: Next, select the option to Block the Connection and click Next.


Step 21: Click Next after ensuring that all three checks (Domain, Private, and Public) are selected in the next window.


Step 22: Finally, give the outgoing rule a name so you can find it in the future when you need to disable it.

Step 23: Finally, as indicated below, click the Finish button.


Step 24: Now, if you try to access a website that is restricted by the firewall, your browser will display the following message.
