How to Fix iPhone Screenshots That Don't Work

Taking a screenshot allows you to save or share certain information with others. But what if your iPhone is incapable of capturing screenshots? Here are some solutions for iPhone screenshots that aren't working.

When screenshots on your iPhone cease working, you may need to record and share screen content with another phone. It's a time-consuming and inconvenient method.

1. TAKE SCREENSHOTS ON IPHONE

The iPhone model determines whether or not you can snap screenshots. The old screenshot approach won't work if you've upgraded from an iPhone 7 or iPhone 8 to a newer device.

You must simultaneously press the side button and the volume up button on iPhone models with Face ID. Release them quickly, and a thumbnail of a screenshot will show at the bottom.

To take a screenshot on an iPhone model that still has the Home button, press the side button and the home button at the same time.

When consumers move from an older iPhone to a new gesture-based iPhone model, they frequently take screenshots by pressing the wrong buttons.

2. PRESS THE REQUIRED BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME

Many customers have reported repeatedly pushing the power and volume up buttons to snap a screenshot. You will either lock the phone or increase the volume level based on your input.

To take a successful screenshot, you must hit all of the relevant buttons at the same time and rapidly release them.

3. FORCE RESTART IPHONE

You must forcibly restart your iPhone if it is not responding to your inputs.

Press and hold the volume up button, then the volume down button, before pressing and holding the power button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

This method, however, will not work with iPhone 7 users. To force restart the iPhone, they must simultaneously push and hold the volume down and power buttons.

4. CHECK DEVICE STORAGE

Do you have a problem with your iPhone's storage? Although you may be able to take a screenshot, it will not appear in the Photos app.

On your iPhone, you should verify and optimise the remaining device storage.

Step 1: Open Settings on iPhone.

Step 2: Go to the General menu and select iPhone Storage.

Step 3: Check remaining storage, and if you are indeed working low storage, you can enable optimize photos to upload media to the iCloud platform.

5. SCREENSHOTS WON’T WORK IN CERTAIN APPS

Netflix, Prime Video, and other video streaming services block screenshots in their apps. Although you can still snap a screenshot, it will only result in a dark screen.

Such techniques are used by businesses to prevent their content from being stolen. When taking screenshots on Netflix, don't be startled if you don't see anything.

6. CHECK PHYSICAL BUTTONS

Do you have a problem with your iPhone's home or volume buttons? You won't be able to snap screenshots on your iPhone no matter what you do. The problem may emerge if you drop your iPhone on a hard surface by mistake.

Apple also provides another method for taking screenshots. To make screenshots work, you'll need to use assistive touch.

Step 1: Open Settings on iPhone.

Step 2: Go to the Accessibility menu.

Step 3: Select Touch and enable AssistiveTouch from 

the menu that follows

On the iPhone, a virtual AssistiveTouch icon will show. Also included in the menu is the ability to take screenshots. You can take a screenshot at any time by tapping on AssistiveTouch and selecting Screenshot.

To take a screenshot on your iPhone, you no longer need to use physical buttons.

7. USE GESTURES TO TAKE SCREENSHOT

Some people may not want to use AssistiveTouch all of the time. On your iPhone screen, it's a constant source of distraction. You may also snap a screenshot on your iPhone with motions. Here's how to do it.

Step 1: Open Settings on iPhone.

Step 2: Go to Accessibility and select Touch.

Step 3: Scroll down and select Back Tap.

Step 4: Choose Double Tap or Triple Tap, then ask the gesture to take a screenshot from the option that appears.

To take a screenshot on your iPhone, simply double-tap or triple-tap at the rear.
