When you use Windows Search to hunt for an application or something else, it will display you the application, as well as any execute commands or associated information. It also shows the search results for the web, which leads to the browser displaying the results from Microsoft's search engine. Many Windows users have expressed their dissatisfaction with the search results appearing in their start menu, and many have been unable to stop it on their PC. We investigated the problem further and discovered two methods for disabling online search results on a Windows PC. This article will show you how to do it.
Step 1: On your keyboard, press the Windows + R keys together to launch the Run dialogue box.
Step 2: To open Registry Editor, type regedit in the run box and hit Enter.
Step 3: To proceed, accept the UAC prompt by clicking Yes.
Step 4: Paste the following path into the registry editor's empty address bar and press Enter.
"Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search"
Step 5: Once you've found the Search registry key, right-click it and select New from the context menu.
Step 6: Then, as indicated in the image below, pick DWORD (32-bit) Value from the list.
Step 7: Rename BingSearchEnabled to the newly formed DWORD value.
Step 8: In the Value data field, double-click on the BingSearchEnabled DWORD value and type 0 in.
Step 9: When you're finished, click OK to save your changes and dismiss the DWORD Value window.
Step ten: Exit the registry editor and restart your computer.
That's it... Using the registry editor, you can block web search results on your system.
Step 1: On your keyboard, press the Windows + R keys together to launch the Run dialogue box.
Step 2: In the Run box, type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Step 3: Using the path provided below, navigate to Windows Components.
Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Computer Configuration
Step 4: Scroll through the Windows Components list and, on the left side of the editor window, pick the Search option, as shown below.
Step 5: Next, seek for Do not allow web search on the right side and double-click it to open it.
Step 6: In the Do not allow web search window, select Enabled, then Apply and OK to save your changes, as seen in the figure below.
Step 7: Make sure Search is selected on the left side of the editor window after you've done this.
Step 8: Then, in the Search option, double-click Don't search the web or display web results to open it.
Step 9: In the Don't search the web or display web results in Search window, click the Enabled radio button as shown below.
Step 10: Finally, to save your changes and dismiss the window, click Apply and OK.
Step 11: When you're finished, close the Local Group policy editor.
Step 12: Reboot your computer and check to see whether the search box on the web has disappeared.
That is all there is to it. Using the local group policy editor, you can disable the search web results in Search on your Windows 11 PC.
