It really irritates us when our phones attempt to connect to free WiFi networks in the streets. To avoid this, we must turn off the WiFi network, which we frequently fail to do. You can turn off WiFi automatically when you leave your house using some workarounds on your Android phone.
Let's look at how to turn on and off WiFi on an Android phone when we enter or leave the house. If you have an iPhone, you should read our guide on how to turn off WiFi automatically on an iPhone.
While Android does not automatically turn off WiFi when you leave the house, it does turn it on when you return. This feature is also enabled by default. However, if you believe it isn't working, you can always enable it manually in the Settings.
Enabling it will restore WiFi near "high quality saved networks," according to the description under the title. This includes your home WiFi, but it could also include places like your workplace. If you don't want the WiFi to turn on anywhere other than your home, you can turn it off and use an automation app instead.
There are also a plethora of automation apps for Android available on the Google Play Store. They all work slightly differently and have unique features. We'll use Automate by LlamaLab for this tutorial, which is fairly simple and allows you to automate a variety of tasks.
1.Open Automate.
2.Tap on the hamburger menu in the upper-left corner.
3.Select Community.
4.Tap on the Search icon in the upper-right corner.
5.Type iHome.
6.Select the search result that says iHome.
7.Tap on the DOWNLOAD button.
8.Go back to the main screen, and you should now see iHome listed among other options.
9.Select iHome.
10.Check each option under Privileges one by one and grant Android the necessary permissions. Allow location access at all times so that the app can check your location even when you're not using it.
11.Tap the START button once all permissions have been granted.
12.On the popup, select START.
13.Choose your home location from the map that appears.
That's all there is to it. When you leave your house the next time, Automate will turn off your WiFi automatically. When you return home, it will also automatically turn on WiFi. Because Automate has a lot of features, it may require a lot of permissions depending on what you're doing with it.
The app is based on flows, and you can easily create your own. There are, however, numerous flows created and shared by other Automate users that you can use as well. The Automate community created and shared one such flow, iHome.
If iHome does not work for you for whatever reason, or if you are dissatisfied with it, you can experiment with other flows. There are undoubtedly more flows to turn off WiFi automatically.
