The seamless sharing of photographs and videos is one of the main reasons for Google Photos' meteoric rise in popularity. It works so well that once you get used to it, you won't want to transfer media files any other way. On Google Photographs, you can share photos and videos in a variety of ways. Let's have a look at them, and you can use any of the methods to deliver media depending on the recipient.
Don't dismiss Google Photos as just another photo-sharing programme. Google has cleverly used Google Photos cloud backup to enable shared albums, Partner accounts, and other social features like photo likes and comments. Here's how to put them to good use.
Only use this if your photos aren't backed up to Google Photos. In that situation, you can continue to distribute media files via social media via the system share menu.
1. On your iPhone or Android device, open Google Photos.
2. Choose the photographs and videos you'd like to share.
3. Select the app to which you wish to share media from the native share menu.
This is fairly basic and you must be previously familiar with it.
Before you begin using the tips below, keep in mind that you must first upload your media assets to the Google Photos cloud. Google allows customers to retain an unlimited number of photographs and videos at a reduced quality until June 1, 2021. That option is no longer available. Now, those additional files will be counted against the 15GB of free storage provided by Google.
If you plan to share hundreds of photographs and videos using Google Photos, you'll need to subscribe to one of the Google One plans.
You can use this approach to make a sharable link in Google Photographs if you only need to share a few photos with people. This is how you do it.
1. On your phone, open the Google Photos app.
2. Choose the photos you want to share.
3. At the top, tap the Share icon.
4. Create a sharable link by tapping on Create link.
5. Google Photos will create a link for you and copy it to your clipboard.
6. Paste the link into the discussion.
That is all there is to it. You've shared a Google Photographs link with photos and videos successfully.
Now, let's look at the permissions in Google Photos, which are equally critical for sharing media assets.
Open the link you wish to alter in Google Photos > Sharing > Other shared links.
You can add more photographs to a link here, invite people manually using their Gmail ID, allow others to collaborate on adding photos and videos, enable comments and likes, and allow others to collaborate on adding photos and videos.
This is the method that the TechWiser team like to utilise to exchange media assets in Google Photos. You can build a shared album and then invite people or make a sharable link like the one above if you want to distribute hundreds of photographs. Take the actions outlined below.
1. Go to Google Photographs and choose the photos you'd like to share.
2. Select Shared album from the Add icon at the top.
3. Give it a name and then share it by tapping the Share icon in the upper right corner.
4. Either use their Gmail ID to invite people or create a shareable link to share.
When someone joins the group using your link, Google Photos will send you a notification.
From the Sharing tab, you can access the shared album, see how many people have joined the group, post comments, like, and add more photographs to the album.
It's all there and it works well.
As the name implies, this one is only for sharing with a partner. Google Photos will instantly share a new photo or video when you join a partner account with your better half. You don't have to do anything; it will appear in your partner's Google Photos collection.
Here's how to put it to good use.
1. Go to Settings in Google Photos.
2. Go to Partner Sharing and select it. Begin by entering your partner's Gmail address.
You can either provide access to all images or pick photos of specific people from the following menu. You can then specify a timeframe for sharing photos from specific dates.
Send the invitation when you've confirmed your sharing permission. From the Sharing > Partner Sharing menu, you may check on your partner's account.
When your partner accepts your request, the Partner Sharing option will show you their complete collection.
Google Photos provides multiple options for sharing media assets with friends and family. You can use any of the options above to start sharing photographs on Google Photos, depending on the volume of media assets and your preferences. While you're doing it, don't forget to use social add-ons like comments and likes to make the whole sharing experience more interesting.
