Exchange Online Kiosk is a low-cost option to offer your users access to Office 365 based email.
EXCHANGEDESKLESS is the product ID for this license type, which indicates clearly the type of worker targeted by this version of Exchange Online: the deskless worker.
Exchange Online Kiosk can be licensed to any user with a light office profile. Workers on the production floor, service teams on the road, etc. could be included.
Exchange Online is available in three different versions as a standalone product:
You can also buy each of them as part of a larger package. Office 365 Enterprise F1 includes Exchange Online Kiosk, which is cheaper than the two Exchange Online alternatives.
Exchange Online Kiosk licenses are quite affordable in comparison with standard Exchange Online licenses. With this plan, you can save 50% compared to the standard Exchange Online Plan 1.
It may not seem like a big deal for two or ten users, but if a company has hundreds or thousands of workers who fit the deskless worker profile, it will result in big savings.
Consider the limitations of Exchange Online Kiosk licenses before signing up your users.
These are the most important limitations:
At a later date, you can convert your Exchange Online Kiosk license into the more capable Exchange Online Plan 1 or 2. If you want to try out this license with some users, there's no big risk.
Below is a complete list of capabilities and limitations (source: Microsoft).
