Samsung Galaxy phones with in-display fingerprint scanners don't work. There are ways to fix this.

In-display fingerprint scanners have been taking over for physical scanners on phones for a long time now. Samsung hasn't had an easy time moving from a traditional fingerprint scanner to one that is built into the screen. A lot of people have had a hard time getting into their Galaxy phones.

Take a look at the tips below before you use an inconvenient method like a PIN or password to protect your phone.

1. DON’T APPLY CHEAP THICK SCREEN PROTECTORS

It's one thing to protect your Galaxy phone's beautiful AMOLED screen with a screen protector. It's completely different to choose a cheap thick screen protector from an unknown brand. To make sure that the screen protector isn't messing with the phone's authentication method, you should look at reviews and comments from people who have used it.

With a thick screen protector, the scanner under the screen can't read your thumbprints. Retry: Take off the screen protector and try again.

2. CLEAN THE DISPLAY

Make sure your phone's screen is free of dust and thumbprints. When you try to authenticate on your phone, the in-display scanner will check your thumbprints with dust. This can cause problems with your account.

Alcohol can be used to clean the screen with a microfibre cloth.

3. REGISTER FINGER AGAIN

As a result, your phone might not know what to do with your finger, and it might not be able to find it. There is a way to get rid of the biometric data you've already stored and add fingerprint authentication again.

Step 1: Swipe up and open the App drawer. Find the Settings app with a gear icon and tap on it.

Step 2: Scroll down to Biometrics and security menu.

Step 3: Select Fingerprints and authenticate with a PIN or Pattern.

Step 4: Tap on the added fingerprint and select Remove at the top. Confirm your decision.

Step 5: Go back to the Fingerprints menu and tap on Add fingerprint option.

Follow the on-screen instructions to register your finger again. Try to use different angels to complete the registration.

4. ADD SAME FINGER TWICE

For security, you can add up to five fingers to your Samsung phone and use them to sign in. You can register the same finger twice to improve your chances of getting it right.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your Galaxy phone.

Step 2: Navigate to Biometrics and security.

Step 3: Tap on fingerprints and select Add fingerprint.

Step 4: Register the same finger again and you are good to go.

5. DISABLE LOCK SCREEN ADS

Low- and middle-range This service is called "Glance." It shows ads on your phone's lock screen. When you press the power button, you won't see a fingerprint scanner mark on the screen. Instead, you will see ads on the lock screen. The good news is that you can turn off these services from the Settings menu.

Step 1: Open the Settings app.

Step 2: Go to the Lock screen menu.

Step 3: Select Wallpaper services and tap on none from the following menu.

6. ENABLE ALWAYS ON DISPLAY

A small part of your screen is covered by a fingerprint scanner. Tap on the exact place on your phone to log in. There are times when people keep hitting the wrong area on the screen to wake up the scanner. When Samsung's AOD (Always On Display) feature is used, this is where it comes in.

When you turn on AOD on a Galaxy phone with an AMOLED screen, you can see a small fingerprint scanner mark on the screen when you open the lock screen. You can touch the fingerprint area right away and make less mistakes when you are able to get into your account.

Step 1: Open the Settings app.

Step 2: Select Lock screen and enable Always On Display toggle.

Tap on the same Always On Display menu and select ‘Show always’ to keep it enabled on the Lock Screen all the time.

On average, keeping Always On Display enabled will consume approximately 1% battery life per hour.

7. UPDATE ONE UI

Samsung is the best at giving Android updates to its phones and tablets. The company releases new OS updates and patches every month to fix bugs and add new features. If you want to make your fingerprint scanner work better, you can update One UI to the latest version.

Select "Download and install" in the Samsung Settings to see if there are any pending updates that you should install.

You can use a fingerprint scanner after you have successfully updated the software. This is how it works:

8. CHECK FOR DISPLAY DAMAGE

Did your phone's screen get hit by something? If there are big cracks right above your fingerprint scanner, you might have trouble getting in. If you live near a Samsung server centre, ask a technician there to take a closer look.

Using a fingerprint scanner instead of Face ID or a PIN/Password is the best way to get into your account. It does the job even when the masks are on. The in-display fingerprint scanner may not work on Galaxy phones, which may make you angry. You can follow the steps above, and we're sure you'll end up with a working in-screen scanner.
