The iPhone is a type of smartphone created by Apple Inc., an American technology firm. Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, announced the first iPhone in January 2008. Since then, the iPhone has grown in popularity with every generations of newer versions.
The mobile operating system used by Apple iPhones is known as iOS. It's billed as "the world's most advanced mobile operating system" by the company. That is debatable, depending on who you ask, but it is indisputable that it is popular and beloved among Apple enthusiasts.
Several other major phone makers had been producing smartphones prior to the iPhone's introduction in 2007, indicating that the iPhone was not the first smartphone. Years before the iPhone, Nokia, BlackBerry, Samsung, HTC, and others had cellphones on the market.
However, the iPhone revolutionised the smartphone industry. It first introduced the capacitive touchscreen, which lets users to use a touchscreen with their fingertips. Previously, other brands' touchscreen smartphones employed resistive touchscreen technology that could only be manipulated with a stylus. The world of smartphones needed a dramatic transformation, and Apple's finger-operated touchscreen provided it. It was a huge success.
Older touchscreen cellphones became relics all of a sudden. Other smartphones, which employed hardware QWERTY keyboards, made waves for a few more years before succumbing to the draw of capacitive touchscreens and becoming extinct. Smartphones with capacitive touchscreens have taken the globe by storm. Today, every smartphone manufacturer has accepted it.
With the app store, Apple iPhones also ushered in a revolution. Again, Apple wasn't the first to have an app shop; Nokia's Symbian cellphones had app stores before the iPhone. Those older app marketplaces, on the other hand, lacked the cohesiveness of Apple's app store. And so it was that the Apple App Store sparked yet another revolution in the way things should be done.
Software support for iPhone models is believed to be available for years after their release – often up to six years. Not only that, but all eligible models, regardless of age, receive each software update as soon as it is released. Apple iPhones offer a distinct advantage over other types of devices in this regard.
Apple iPhones aren't cheap, but you might argue that you're paying for years of service up front. That would be a reasonable argument.
The iPhone 6 was one of the models that determined the iPhone's future. Its recognisable design was adored by millions of users all around the world. The iPhone 6 was so well received that iPhone fans have been asking, "When is the iPhone 7 coming out?" for months.
And it was the iPhone 6's iconic design that was carried over into several subsequent generations, including the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, and the cheap iPhone SE line through 2022. Starting with iPhone X, the normal iPhone series departed from that design, adopting one without a Home button.
For many years, iPhones were known for their short battery life. iPhone users were nearly always linked to a power outlet, according to a popular joke among Android phone owners. Many iPhone owners had to carry around power banks to make up for their smartphones' short battery life. This storey was transformed by the iPhone 13 Pro Max. It had an excellent battery life that rivalled the best in the industry, thanks to a 4352mAh battery.
The other iPhone 13 models, however, failed to meet that expectation: the iPhone 13, 13 Pro, and SE 2022 all had the same below-average battery life as its predecessors.
