What Causes a High Ping

What is the meaning of the ping before you can answer the question "what makes the high ping?". A ping is a network utility that indicates the signal sent across the Internet to another computer, which will then return its own signal.

This signal measures the time taken for a data package to be sent from a computer to the Internet server and returned. You might wonder why my ping is so high. Here are five main reasons.

  • Quality of my ISP.
  • Speed of my Internet connection.
  • Limited bandwidth
  • settings

As an alternative, you can inform Windows that your network is metered. You have to turn off the metered connection or connect to another Wi-Fi to download Windows updates.

Follow the steps below to complete the process.

"Open Settings > Network & Internet > Ethernet > Set as metered connection."

Fix 3: Switch from Wi-Fi to Ethernet

Wireless networks are not as stable as wired networks, there is no doubt about that. If your computer connects to a wireless network, there will be more interruptions. The Wi-Fi signal would be very weak when you are playing LOL in a room far from a router, which would result in high pings.

What can be done to lower pings? Use an Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi. To make the switch, go to Settings. Users may not be able to use this method. In place of poor wireless coverage, you can extend the reach of your home network with a powerline Ethernet adapter.
